One of the most common kitchen ingredients, apple cider vinegar has long been used not only for cooking, but also for treatment of various health issues. In fact, it’s an indispensable part of natural medicine.

Although science has still not offered much on the medicinal properties of ACV, proponents of holistic medicine claim that apple cider vinegar can provide a number of health benefits.

A Japanese study tried to shed some light on the effects of ACV on weight loss. The study included 175 obese people who had similar dietary regimens, but only half of them were asked to include ACV in their diet.

The results of the study showed that the study participants who included ACV in their diet had higher weight loss results than the others. The scientists concluded that apple cider vinegar activates some genes in the human body that stimulate the fat-burning process.

Also, the researchers found that ACV showed extremely beneficial for reducing blood sugar levels. In the words of Carol Johnston, Ph.D., and director of Arizona State University’s nutrition program, apple cider vinegar inhibits starch digestion which is responsible for increasing blood sugar levels.

According to her,  “Apple cider vinegar’s anti-glycemic effect is very well documented. It doesn’t block the starch 100%, but it definitely prevents at least some of that starch from being digested and raising your blood sugar.”

Although ACV is easily available on the market, making your own homemade version is far more beneficial.

HOMEMADE ACV RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 apples (unpeeled)
  • 2 honey
  • water

Directions:

Put the unpeeled apples in a large glass jar then fill the jar with water. The apples should be covered in water completely. Next, add the honey and stir well so that it gets dissolved entirely.

Continue by putting a paper towel over the jar opening. Close the jar tightly and leave it for 2 weeks. 2 weeks later you should strain the liquid, remove all the apple remains and pour the liquid back in the jar.

You leave this for a month more, stirring every day.

After 4 weeks your homemade ACV is ready to use and enjoy the plethora of health benefits it provides!
