I love my aloe plants; I have had them for years. My great friend Abby shared a huge plant with me and that plant has expandedinto many many plants I have shared with many many people! That is the true beauty of the aloe plant. It is incredibly medicinal along with being prolific!
- ¼ cup fresh aloe
- 1/8 teaspoon citric acid (in the canning section)
- ¼ teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Remove the goodness from the aloe leaves. The easiest way I have found to do this is by splitting the leave from the top to the bottom only piercing one layer of skin. Use a spoon to scrape the gooiness from the plant. I have noticed when the plant sits for a minute after you have extracted the center some additional juice will pool; it is hard to waste anything so wonderful!
In a blender add all the ingredients. Blend till all the chunks of aloe are gone.
The citric acid and the vitamin E act as preservatives, therefore the citric acid is optional.
Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for at least a month.
This gel is wonderful for burns. It can be used as is or it can be used in other recipes that call for Aloe Vera Gel.
