Upon realizing that the fast food provided at McDonald’s is not a healthy dietary choice for the patients, Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, a renowned health care centre in the US, has finally sent the fast food restaurant away. This is just one of the many steps the clinic is taking toward promoting healthy food choices, exercise, and a smoke free environment.

In the words of Cleveland Clinic spokeswoman Eileen Sheil, “Our goal is to reduce the risk factors that contribute significantly to chronic diseases.”

This is nothing new if you consider the well-known fact that the food at McDonald’s is packed with GMOs, MSG, eggs that are everything but eggs, dimethylpolysiloxane (an anti-foaming agent made of silicone), and calcium silicate (a sealant used on roofs and concrete).

But, this is not all because most of McDonald’s food packs much more than what you pay for. For instance, with more than 70 ingredients, the highly popular McDonald’s McRib contains, among other things, ‘restructured meat’ i.e. normally discarded animal parts blended together to create something that resembles a rib. Plus, it contains a little-known flour-bleaching agent – azodicarbonamide.

These are the major reasons why this fast food chain is losing profit and shutting down its restaurants worldwide.

In the past six years, Cleveland Clinic is the 7th hospital in the US to dismiss McDonald’s from their cafeterias. Although this is great progress, there are still more than 5,600 hospitals nationwide, along with numerous other healthcare institutions that still sell McDonald’s fast food. And if only half of these removed the carcinogenic, toxic food the patients are given, then we could talk of a health revolution.

McDonald’s popularity is declining all over the world, although this brand used to be a household name in America. Many countries have removed McDonald’s restaurants from their markets, and some of these include Iceland, Bolivia, Bermuda and Macedonia.
